Patrick Wier

Pat's style as a lawyer and his service as an active-duty Navy Officer are one and the same — no nonsense, runs a tight ship, and will defend clients or country with the zealous advocacy that seems to be missing in modern day practice. He runs our newly formed Tampa office, having fallen for our charms after a stellar career at a medical malpractice defense firm. He's the only Nebraska-barred lawyer at Black Law, and while we haven't seen his cow tipping skills yet, we are sure that they are gold star worthy. When it comes to accepting challenges, we know there isn't one too hard as he has (foolishly according to his wife) been launched off the back of a 2,000-pound bull coming out of the rodeo chute.

Pat's done some ridiculously impressive things in his lifetime like attend the Naval Academy in Annapolis, serve as an active-duty officer for six years, join the JAG Corps (just like Tom Cruise), but his most important achievement is fathering a small military unit of his own and building a family. He's a great problem solver, has successfully tried multiple cases before a civil jury, and first chairs trials with the military.

Pat's free time is spent with his children and wife (and maybe litigating Veteran Benefit cases). When asked how many kids he has, he would tell you that answer differs depending on whether you ask him or his wife. She will tell you six, but that includes Pat. Pat will outwork, outhustle, and outsmart anyone who makes the mistake of underestimating him. He's got a wicked sense of humor and is the guy that showed up to our photo shoot in board shorts just to watch the boss's face react before pulling a military-grade ironed suit out of his car. Clients love him because he's confident, smart, down to earth, and entirely entertaining.

When someone in the office is getting too full of themselves, we just email them Pat's resume full of accomplishments where one alone would be enough to make anyone's mom happy for a lifetime. We literally throw him into the deep end of complex, commercial disputes with the peace of mind that he'll swim.
